I visited the doctor who told me I have amenorrhea since I have not had a period since stopping the birth control pill a few months ago. She said (since I am not keen on taking hormones) that I could wait another 4 weeks and if no period comes that I should take 10 days worth of progesterone pills to kick-start my period. Has anyone done this?
She also warned me that it may not work since it may be my low body fat is causing amenorrhea. I am very athletic, at the gym regularly and eat healthy (not anorexic by any means). Is there any harm in just waiting it out longer - until I want to have a baby? Also, is it possible to still be ovulating or does having amenorrhea mean you don't ovulate at all?
I've had to take progesterone in the past. It was fine, didn't do anything but make me have a period. In fact, I have a continuously refillable prescription for it, but I've been regular for the first time in my life since being off the pill for the last year.
You can look into natural ways to induce a period. Ginger, cohosh, etc. My Dr's have always stressed to me that I should have a period ever 3-4 months, if not, time to take the progesterone again.
Ovulation with secondary amenorrhea is tricky, it is fully possible to still ovulate, but not common. The trick is finding out exactly when/if you are, so obviously, if you are sexually active and don't want to be pregnant to still practice safe sex.

Friendship Prayer
May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the crotch of the person who screws up your day and may their arms be too short to scratch.
Amen
Whoever said anything was possible obviously never tried slamming a revolving door.
