    hi all,

im 20, i started my period when i was 15 around march

at first if i remember correctly it was regular monthly. but from january -april teh following year i hadnt had a period for 4 months. during that time i was extremely stressed. i had my GCSE exams and after consulting the doctors they said that was the most likely reason. My periods came back and i think from 17-19 my periods were every other month. I think there were occassions where i might have missed a period too. I worked out from the dates that i have for age 18-19 that my cycle is around 40 days sometimes +/2 days

i started medical school september last year and its being really really stressful. the dates i have had my periods are:
24-29th october 2009 (before this period, my periods were regular at every 40 days)

17-24 th january 2010 (72 days since my last period)

    19th - 25th april 2010 (86 days since my last one)

i heard that there's a cervical mucus cycle as well and come to think of it before my last few periods I had the mucus thing.

My mum’s cycle occurs every month and hers last 5 days everytime but mine are different. It always lasts 6 days and judging from the dates mine are every 40 days. It seems though the last 3 even if I missed my period having a 86 day gap is still wrong.

I went to the doctors last year because I was worried that I might not be ovulating and she said I could do a blood test to check. But the doctors can only do it if I am planning on having kids but im not. So doctors cant help

I just want to know really whether there is something wrong with me, im I doing anything wrong and should I be doing something. Advice and help please.

My mum said her periods were really affected by stress and she would miss a period whenever she is stressed.

So perhaps im just really affected by stress? And like her I seem to miss one period each time although mine is like an 80 day gap

You are probably just really sensitive to stress. Try to find a way to deal with the stress in your life, exercise, meditate, read, whatever works for you. Or better yet, try to eliminate the negative stresses in your life altogether.
Focus on being happy and healthy and see if your cycle becomes more regular.
