I am 17 years old and have had my period consistently since I was 11 years old. When I was around 15, I discovered I had an ovarian cyst. My doctor told me it was nothing to worry about and that if they bother me too much I should take some pain relievers. I don't know if ovarian cyst is exactly a condition or something that lasts a limited time. Also, I'm not exactly sure how they can affect my period. So I suppose that is one of my concerns. My other is whether or not I will be able to have kids.
Speaking of kids, I have this ridiculous notion that I could somehow be pregnant. I haven't had sex in way over a year, but I am physically active with my boyfriend. He's never ejaculated with me around, but I suppose there was some pre-cum laying around when we were fooling around. And normally, I wouldn't be freaking out if it weren't for my missed period.
I am usually always consistent when it comes to my period, but I am currently almost two weeks late. I do admit that I have been working out harder lately and things have been a bit stressful, but I've always worked out and my schedule's always been a bit hectic. Could it possibly be because I've become physically (though not sexually) active? All I've been getting is brown/red discharge which I've pretty much always had a week or so before my period. However, it's been lasting much longer than usual and I've been having almost a non-stop discharge period (ha! no pun intended). Also, during said discharge periods, I tend to bleed when my boyfriend touches me (more specifically my vagina), but I won't hit my period till maybe a week after when it's due. I'm just confused and tired of worrying and am desperately searching for some answers and to make it easier for you I will list my questions.
Ovarian Cysts:
How long do they last?
What does it do to my period?
Can I make babies?
Pregnancy:
Am I pregnant?
What're the chances?
Am I just crazy?
Period:
Why am I not on my period?
Why do I ALWAYS get discharge?
Is it normal to bleed when being physically active?
...and other advice you could add would be helpful. Thank you!
I doubt you are pregnant... However, not impossible, but highly unlikely. Lack of period could definitely be due to the ovarian cyst. My period was highly erratic most of my life unless I was on the pill. Take a pregnancy test, just to ease your concern as being stressed over it can cause your cycle to be wonky too.
Discharge, in general, is normal and fine. As long as it isn't green, yellow, purple, pink, rainbow, etc., it is fine.
Regarding bleeding while physically active, are his nails trimmed? You could be getting a small cut or something from his nails. Although, for me, it kind of depends on where at in my cycle I am, sometimes I may have a little bit of pinkish discharge going on after.
Since it has been a couple of years since you've been to the Dr. I'd get back in and have another exam, just as kind of a reevaluation from before. They may want to do something to regulate your periods and it doesn't hurt to get the cyst rechecked.
