    Hey

I have always had irregular periods. I went a whole year once without one. I'm 25 yrs old and slightly over weight and smoke ocassionally ... my doctor put me on metformin to regulate my hormones and period. When I do finally get my period its very very clotty... I don't know if this is normal or even safe. Any advice is greatly appreciated

I get small clots every time, clotting is normal, but it depends on the size of the clot. If they are small, and only last the length of your period, it is normal. You say it is very very clotty though, so I would go and see your doctor and explain how bad the clotting is. There are heaps of different things that can cause clotting, like fibroids and endometriotis.

Clotting during your period is rather normal... I clot, usually on days 3-4 of my period, not small ones either. Your Dr's done a sono and saw no problems, so this just may be normal for you. I don't think anything really to worry about. However, if at any time your have questions or worries, you should at least call and talk to your Dr's nurse, then she can make a decision as to whether you should be seen.
