Spotting every day

Hi all,

I'm 23 years old. Recently I have been to the doctor to renew my contraception pill. Turns out I had to take a new, different kind of pill from the one I have been using over that last 3 years as I was prescribed by a Dutch doctor. Apparently because I get migraines with auras (I go partially blind for 40 mins or so before the headache), I am increasing the risk of a stroke further on in life by taking my old pill.

So now I've been put onto a new pill. The first 1,5 months I got my period every 2 weeks - because I was not told I had to take this new pill every day (rather than 3 weeks, 1 week pause and then 3 weeks again).

But now that I am taking it properly, I am bleeding every single day. Not as heavily as a normal period thankfully, but still bleeding. Although thinking about it now, I should have had my proper period, but it never came. This has been going on for about 1 month (possibly 1 week more).

I am a bit reluctant to go see my doctor, as they are trying to get me to do an implant, which I do not want to do. The last 2 times I've been there they're pretty much not giving me any other option than the implant in my arm or the spiral.

All I really want is for things to go back to normal; even off the pill my periods were on the dot to the hour specific.

Does anyone have any suggestions or can give some advise on what to do?

P.s. not sure if this is relevant, but my family has a history of breast (on both sides) and ovarian (on one side) cancer. Also, I am allergic to NSAID's - anaphylactic shock

Doctors usually tell you to wait for 3 months before you go back with any problems as it takes about that long for your body to become used to the new BC. I had the Implant, Implanon 68, and bled constantly for over a year. I had it removed a few months ago. I would NEVER have it again. But alot of people have NO bleeding whatsoever. I would try the new pills for a while before I went back if I were you. The bleeding will likely settle down. Good Luck.
