I'm going to a very important event next month and it looks like my period is going to fall on the weekend of the event so I've made an appointment to see a doctor and get a prescription for birth control so I can put of my period. I'm just wondering when the best time is to start the birthcontrol pill so I will not be on my period for the event. My next period should be starting this coming Sunday...ay suggestions as to when to start the pill?
umm... as far as i know ive been always told to start the pill on the first day of your mentrual cycle or the day you get your period. that is for unprotected sex, when you will have to wait 7 hormone days to be "safe".
now for other purposes im not sure if you start the pill at any time if it will still prevent that weekend period. found this info that says you can start it today... still wouldnt know if it will stop it by then... im almost sure it will. Birth Control Pill Instructions - Combined Oral Contraceptives
i will strongly recommend as i have been by two doctors now to only miss your period if its absolutely necessary. i believe that skipping periods is not good and i dont agree with contraceptive methods that are for example, six months straight or likes. your body needs to dispose of that lining as a part of a natural cycle. and if you skip it make sure its never more than two months.
always take it at the same time everyday not only for pregnacy prevention sake. remember that you are disrupting your natural hormone system and its important that the body gets into a new hormone input rythm so you dont drive it crazy! since its not your hypothalamus that will be in control anymore.
i just realized the event its next month... sorry i forgot.
so if you can you should definitely start it this sunday or when your period comes, choose a time and stick to it. once the time comes to start taking the sugar pills of the first pack, just start with the first hormone pill of the next one.
