Hot Flashes During Cycle???

hELLO!!
is it normal to have hot flashes during menstrual cycle. i was telling my boyfriend's mother and she told me that its not hotflashes but a hormonal imbalance during those times. but it feels just like it - i'll be cramping and then get hot all over and breal into a sweat. it happens just once during my menstrual cycle.
