Okay. I'll make this long story as short as possible!
I was on yasmin for about 2 years when I decided to switch to something different. Long story short I went through about 3 different pills before decided to go off of birth control for a while. Then, back in April of this year I decided to go back on BC because I was spotting here and there and wanted it to stop. I wanted to try seasonique - sidenote, NEVER EVER EVER take it, it gave me the most painful cramps/headaches of my life - so I stayed on that for about 2 months until the pain/bleeding became ridiculous.
I decided to go back onto my tried-and-true yasmin (I've been taking the generic, Ocella. That's also what I was taking the first time around). I've been taking it again since about July, but here's the problem: I spot CONSTANTLY. I mean, I have my period for the regular time that I should. Then I have about 2-3 days where it stops and I'm back to no/clear, normal discharge. But THEN I start spotting and it lasts weeks - right up until my nest period. It's the brownish-red discharge, no odor/pain, the same thing that's associated with "cleaning out your plumbing" basically. It's a decent amount, too - definitely enough to call for a tampon most days.
I've heard that it's normal during the first few months, but it's been 4 months now and this is still happening. It's horrible, it's like I have my period all the time even when I don't. I feel so awkward even THINKING about going further than kissing my new guy just because of what's going on down there. It's more annoying than anything else. Is it normal for it to last that long, and for so many months? Does it ever go away???![]()
I've heard of lots of people spotting for a while on yasmin (because of the low doses, I don't know). I too had some spotting for the first few months I took it. It seemed to be getting better every month, but I went off of it after about 6 months because of other side effects.
It seems like your spotting is quite extreme. I think you should try to find a different brand, with the help of your doc...
