    Default Don't worry everyone-

I've had this problem for years now. It is more of an annoyance than anything else- I'm 29, I've got a 5 year old. Before I had a baby my period was about 5 weeks long. I never paid attention. Since then, I get brown discharge at weird times (before and after period) and my cycles are all different lengths. When I was on the nuva ring, I was like clockwork. But I've been off for 2 years now, and I have not regulated. I've been trying to conceive for those two years with no success. I've charted for over a year, and when my fertility Dr. put me on clomid and progesterone, my period SOMEWHAT regulated, and I did notice my temperature change (indicating ovulation) but despite all our efforts.. no baby. I'm not concerned about the brown discharge as much as I am frustrated by it, because it makes it next to impossible to understand your cycle, since you can't really identify day "one" and it makes two weeks out of every month "messy."

So, all you worried about the discharge being that you are pregnant, it's not necessarily so, take a pregnancy test. That's what they're for. For those of you thinking something is "wrong", don't worry, because it is just old blood that decides to shed your uterus whenever it feels like it. But for those who are trying to conceive, I empathize with you, because even my OB and Fertility Dr. don't have answers... I suppose we just need to STOP worrying about it, and hopefully it will happen when it is supposed to.

I get this, too. Started happening about a year ago, after I stopped breastfeeding (my, um, then 3 year old). It's pretty annoying. It's like peekaboo period. My cycles got very short, 24 days. I tried natural progesterone cream to help with the cycle length and the spotting but I hated it - it made me ravenous, I gained 5lbs, and it actually made my cycle shorter and anovulatory. maybe i wasn't on it long enough (only 2 mo) but it totally wasn't worth it. i'll deal with a little spotting. not so annoying if i wear my diva cup those days.

my osteopath is having me take a supplement called Dim, a derivative of cruciferous veggies that's supposed to help turn bad estrogen in the liver into good estrogen. it's helped with the cycle length at least. we'll see if the spotting gets better.
