My cycle has been irregular since stopping the pill in May. Getting my period every 7-9wks. We'd like to start a family soon so I've been trying to figure out when I typically ovulate. Does timing of ovulation occur based on your last period or your next one? Specifically, should I expect it aprox. 2wks after my period, or two weeks before my next period? Hope that makes sense. I know it varies from one woman to another. Since my cycle is so long, I'm looking to get a general sense of when we should really be trying. Thanks in advance.

You should look into getting some ovulation prediction tests, they aren't very expensive. Ovulation happens, depending on the length of your cycle. Do you ever have ovulation symptoms after your period?(Like a week or two after)

Thanks. I was thinking of getting one of the tests. For some reason I'm reluctant to.....seems like it would add pressure and stress. It's certainly the logical thing to do. I have never been able to identify my ovulation symptoms. I've read up on the common one's, but never notice anything. Thanks again.

They sell them in bundle packs, I have bought a pack of 6 for $6 before. I would read instructions and do it for a month or two, just to get to know your body. No pressure in that. I've gotton pregnant when I was not supposed to be ovulating at all, so there are no guarantees, but atleast it gives you an idea.
