Hi there, I'm new here. I've seen many women on this forum who have gone through the same thing that I am experiencing. So I am hoping that someone can give me some guidance. Here is my story: I am 23 years old, sexually active, and have been on birth control pills since I was 17. Over the past 6 years I have probably been on at least 15 different pills. For the past 4 years, I have eventually experienced breakthrough bleeding on every pill I've ever taken.
This past year has been different. About a year ago, I started having 3 week long periods, with one week of no bleeding, while on the pill. I have had blood tests, a pelvic ultra-sound (no fibroids or cysts), exams and everything says that I'm healthy, aside from having an overly-thick uterine lining. I'm not over-weight, don't have thyroid problems or anything. My doctor put me on Seasonale to control the bleeding. Of course, my body won't tolerate not having a period for 3 whole months, so I would start bleeding while on the pill after about 5-6 weeks, bleed for one week and stop, which was fine with me. This worked for the past 6 months or so. However, the most recent period I've had hasn't stopped despite taking my pills. So I'm now on week 5 of continuous bleeding and I don't know what to do. I have an appointment with a different gynecologist in about a week, but I don't know what other tests they can possibly run on me.
Has anyone on here found a solution to this? I'm terrified the only solution is to remove my uterus or something drastic that will make it so I can never have children...
I would appreciate any advice anyone can give me![]()
You can talk to your Dr about the possibility of a D&C, this more or less, 'cleans' you out.
Definitely get back into your Dr or another, to try to get this resolved.
