Yeah, i referred to my period as "it" in the title. But that's the problem. I want to ask my mom about this but.. heck.. i figure it's just gonna come and go 0.o;; Ummm but I am slightly concerned, just not concerned enough to tell my mom to take me to the doctor.. Anyways..
So.. the week before last week, I had my period and went to state band competition that saturday, came back and was sick because my sinuses went haywire from being in the mountains(idk if this is relevant but i assume that all information is helpful). Just got done being sick (WOOT) but I guess my period started again today cause I'm bleeding a bit again. I'm 15 and I have an irregular cycle.. soo.. it may be my period.. it may not be.. um.. I'm not sure, but I think it may be I'm just a little confused and thought asking here would be best...
before getting on birth control, i had irregular periods since i first got them. from periods reoccurring more than once a month, to not having periods for months at a time, to having periods that last nonstop for 2+ months. i have "dysfunctional uterine bleeding" which means my body doesn't produce enough progesterone which is the hormone that makes you ovulate. if you don't ovulate, you don't have a period. sometimes it 'backs up' and releases in larger quantities either resulting in successive periods, weird periods, long periods, etc.
stress can also do this. if you miss a period, its likely that you'll have a really heavy one or not because your body is building up the lining in your uterus and not releasing it correctly.
the best way to relieve this - get on birth control. see a doctor (which you're supposed to do every year once you start your period anyway). getting on birth control does NOT mean you are sexually active, especially if you have a hormone problem resulting in irregular periods. birth control regulates your hormones to make your periods nice, short, and predictable.
its really probably nothing to worry about, but make your life easier and see a doctor. either you're fine and this only happens once, or he can end your irregular periods by giving you birth control. i guarantee if you could predict your period instead of playing the period guessing game, you'll be happier. : )
