Question Hoping someone can help! badder problems during cycle

Well, I've been trying to research the problem as I thought it would be reasonably common....but obviously not, so I was hoping someone on this might be of some help!? To clarify, I'm 19 years old.

Recently, I've noticed that during my monthly cycle, my bladder is pretty weak. For example, today (first day of my cycle) I've only had a glass of water throughout the whole day, but feel the need to pee all the time! It's not painful, I've not had any children and I've not been pregnant before...so I can't explain it.

The embarrassing thing is, if I ever decide to go out and have a few drinks during the time of my cycle, I'll often find that in the morning I've leaked during the night. When I say a few drinks though, I don't mean getting drunk or past the stage where I cannot control my bladder (before anyone decides to judge!).

So, if anyone else out there has experienced a similar problem, or offer some help, I'd be very appreciative! If not, looks like a trip to the doctors is in order...

    Many thanks, Sarah

    Hi Sarah!

I'm sorry to hear that you have this problem too! I'm 23 years old and during the first two or three days of my period I always have an overactive bladder. I haven't been to a doctor because it's not something that concerns me, just annoys me. My own little theory is this: in the lower belly during our periods there's a lot of activity going on and it's bothering and knocking against the bladder, irritating it, and making us feel that urge more and having to pee more. I haven't researched it myself, but from the research you've done, it's odd that it's not more common. As for leaking through the night, that's a bummer! I haven't had that problem myself, though.

I wish I could give you some expert advice, but you definitely have my empathy and you're definitely not the only one who has to deal with this every month!
