Hey everyone! I'm wanting to know some of your thoughts!
I used to have irregular periods in the past and got on birth control in my early teens..I also had a bad ovarian cyst that ruptured in me a few years ago. I haven't been on birth control now for over a year and my periods are usually kinda semi-regular. This past year me and my partner used condoms and "the pull out method" b/c the condoms were causing him irration.
I usually never skip periods but sometimes the heaviness varies and the date. I noticed this Dec. 2010 I started on Christmas Day and it only lasted that one day. Christmas this year wasn't normal b/c we had to spend it w/ my Dad at the hosptial and I was really stressed out. My period that started on Christmas day wasn't light ...it was a normal flow...but when it stopped the next day I was a little worried but not too bad cuz my periods vary from 2-6 days. I took a preg test a week and a half ago (just to be sure) and it was negative....I took another test last night (Jan 24 2011) and it was negative also.
It is now Jan 25 and I havent started yet. I have been under a tremendous amount of stress the past couple of months .. Also I have had to quit smoking recently so could my stress be throwing my periods off possibly? And if I had my period for 1 day is that okay?
I know this isn't the best place to come to ask this question but I just want to ease my mind a little if possible. Thank you for your advice in advance !
You should go in and see you doctor just to be on the safe side. I know bcp have a lot to do with your periods. I was on it for 6 years straight and the longer I was on it, the shorter my periods would be. Then after about 5 yrs. being on it I stopped having periods took pregnancy tests and went to see the doctor who told me to go off the pill for a few months and that did the trick to get my periods back on track. A lot of times dieting, or exercising more frequently, as well as stress can effect your monthly cycle. The only way to find out what is going on for sure and be on the safe side is to see your doctor.
