    Just wondering what's going on...

The last time I had protected sex was 20th March. I got my period as usual 4 days later on 24th March. I am usually due around 24th-25th each month. Although, my periods are sometimes irregular and not always 4 wks (28 days apart), but can be 5 wks apart sometimes and on odd occasion I have missed period entirely.

It is now 1st May and so I was expecting to get my period at the beginning of the week. I dont think I have to worry about being pregnant as it was protected sex and I've had my period since then! But I find that a few other times I've had sex in recent times before that my period has been delayed/late...

    Not sure why...

    Any comments/advice? Thanks.

It could be coincidence that you just happen to be ovulating later on those months than what is normal for you. Therefore, you have a longer cycle. Example: Last month, I didn't ovulate until day 36 of my cycle, which means I didn't start my period until day 48. I had ALMOST a 50 day cycle. This month I ovulated on day 20, and started my period on day 32, which means I had a 32 day cycle. It can fluctuate. Things that can cause a late ovulation: stress, traveling, change in exercise, change in diet etc. Late ovulation = late period.

Charting is a wonderful thing to keep you in tune with your body and let you know what's REALLY going on with your cycles. Consider reading "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" with Toni Weschler. It's a life changing book where this stuff is concerned.

    Good luck!
