I am a 28 year old with an Implanon (due for removal next month). Since Oct 2010 I have been bleeding twice a month, with one or two months as normal. At the beginning of this year I visited my GP because I thought that the bleeding may have been following sex, my GP tried to do an internal examination but found that I was still bleeding lightly so this could not complete the exam.

During the time since I have had the implanon I did not have any periods until Oct 2010 (implanon fitted June 2008). When I started bleeding in Oct I kept a track of my periods on my phone. This shows that there are 16 days in my average cycle. I am due a cervical smear test this month (last one taken May 2008-normal).

Another concern is that last time I had pain during sex. I'm not sure if the two things are related or not.

Has anyone else had the same thing? Any ideas what could be causing this?
