I am actually going through this myself. I just posted a new thread called the never ending period.
Its 2 months now where my period just keeps going and going it does stop but I have minimal time where the next one begins. Its maddening and to be honest I am scared too.
I am going for blood work and ultra sounds soon to rule things out too.
I am 34 and had two kids. The doctor seemed to think it might be my thyroid due to being overweight , high levels of stress and depression and brittle nails and hair.

    Default Worried

I have the same problem I am 17 and have had my period for 38 days. I was prescribed hormones which were supposed to give me a break and they almost did but I only had ten days worth. It almost stopped but now that I'm not taking the hormones anymore my period has come back with a vengeance. I'm not sure how my body is keeping up with all the blood it seems like I'm loosing. I had an ultrasound done but the doctor said there was nothing wrong with me. I don't want this to go on for ever but my mother has me mainly worried about the future because I want to have kid eventually. Has anyone with this had theirs stop? I'm worried about what this could be.

I'm 31 and found out that the reason why i had 3 months no periods, to 10 months regular periods to 2 months off. now my periods are getting longer and longer. Are you ladies hot as well, i feel really hot when it is cold out side. so i did lots of test like a biopy, and a few others. and turns out i have a 7mm polyp in my uterus. I have female doctor. cause she knows a female body is and was is concered normal. a so now i have to set a date to get the polyp out and see if it fixs my red river if you well. I'm really tired of my long never ended river. I hope this shed some light on your red river issues. Find the right doc, cause long periods are not ok.

After one day and one night of periodically eating about 5 ginger snaps with breakfast lunch and dinner then a few the next day it's friggen gone. The effect was only supposed to slow down the period but I guess I over did it on the snaps. It's gone. It stopped too abruptly for it not to have had something to do with it. This is my first clear day in 2 MONTHS! Try is someone and tell me if after a couple of days if it works for you too. Good luck!
I tried this and it too worked for me!!! I don't know if it was a coincidence or what, but I went from a heavy flow for over a week to almost nothing after eating about 20 gingersnaps for 2 days.

hello. I am 23 almost 24, I have a son 20 months. My period started back up in november 2009 about a year after my son was born. My periods go up to a month and half on and off. was wondering if anyone had any advice about it. sometimes really red sometimes brownish. I dont know if its excess from my c-section or what. i will be goin to the gyno in august to have the yearly check up but sometimes it helps from other peoples knowledge. as well I always had irregular periods. i dont have any cervical cancer in my gene history. cramps can be painful but not too often.

I'm so glad to find this thread. I've been having unbearably long periods since I was 16. I've had them last for 2 months at a time and recently I've had my current period for a month with no end at sight! Its so frustrating having to change pads about 8 times a day! Sometimes I feel like buying stock in pads and tampons! The cramps i experience leave me home-bound for days on end. I have learned that I have a thick endometrial lining, but nothing has been done about it. I just feel like getting a hysterectomy to end all of this. Numerous doctors have been no help blaming it on my weight all the time. Granted this is probably a factor, but not a total reason!

If you want to try ginger, get some ginger root from the produce section of your grocery. Place a few slices in boiling hot water and let steep 10 mins, Drink as a tea.

I feel so sorry for you ladies. After reading this thread, I will never complain again!
I hope all of you will check out natural/alternative solutions! I've read diet, nutrition, and stress play major roles. Good luck to you all!
