Unhappy 31yo have this problem too

This thread has made me feel better. My period stopped 7 days ago. I woke up yesterday morning to a blood clot and very heavy bleeding, cramping, hot flashes, and overall menstrual like symptoms. Now I am on day 2 of this bleeding. I called my doctor and she said that alot of women can get 2 periods per month once in a while. However, if this doesn't stop, I need to come in and see her. I pray to god this clears itself up becasue my husband and I want to get pregnant soon. It really sucks being a woman sometimes!!

Well, I guess you could call me unlucky. I started bleeding from an unknown source on 12th November 2006 for 14 days. I had urology, gynae and bowel investigations. The bleeding settled down, gynae said if it restarted to contact them again.

On 31st July 2007 following a diagnosis of a nasal infection in the morning, I was rushed to hospital with a severe water infection, for which I had started bleeding and was told that it was the infection that had started it off again. By August, I was seen by the gynae (this was as a private patient) and was told that I had endiometriosis and that due to the heavy bleeding (just standing was flooding) that it could not wait until the school holidays (teacher), so I had to have the operation the following week.

Following the operation, I had heavy bleeding, so I ended up in hospital for another 4 days. I went home but the bleeding continued. By November, I was put on Cerezettes to try to stem the bleeding. I finally stopped bleeding on 31st December for TEN days. Then, it just started again and has not stopped bar the odd day.

In total, since 31st July, I have only stopped bleeding for 40 days.

I have opted to have a hysterectomy in the summer, as I cannot continue like this. I have a heart murmur and atrial fibrillation and blood lose is not good for me, so this is my only option.

In terms of blood loss colour, it is generally red, pinkish or it is bright red and full of clots. However, over the last few days, it has become really dark brown (a bit like melted chocolate, darkish) and I am not sure why.

I'm glad I'm not alone! My period has been going for over a month now its not heavy or painful, its just always there.. In the past I've been on depo provera and the pill (depo provera was the worst because it made me bleed non-stop) but I havent taken any contraceptives in the last year or so.

Im at my wits end and Im wondering if anyone has tried herbal remedies or detox to regulate periods? Im 22 by the way

Hello everyone, I am so glad to find this discussion, I was confused lately. here is my story. I have been with birth control on and off for 3 years, if I stopped the pills I can't have my period, since pills had bad effect on me, I stopped taking them, I dont have a period for one year, I feel anxious, stressed, and irritable. My husband travel for a living and I go with him so I travel all the time too. I gain a few pounds, then I start exercising doing Taebo after a week of doing that my period came, started with light brown spots, after a few days it became red but still lighter, till after two weeks I was sitting and I feel something came out when I look at it. I saw a big blood clot, I was so scared since that time my blood start to get heavier for 5 days then it became lighter again. My period start in April 13 and now is May 6, still didn't stop.. I don't know what to do, I feel tired now and always thirsty.... Thank you for reading this, hope didnt gross you out hehehe!!!

Question Me too!

Me too, me too, me too! I am an obese female age 25. I used to take birth control and had regular periods like clock work every month. I have been off of it for about 3 years now sense 05. I have started nutrisystem (gift from mom) and have lost about 20 pounds. During the first few months. I experienced regular periods for about 2 months. After about a month later my periods are never ending my current one has been going on for two months. You can imagine how this impedes my love life. I'm tired most of the time and it's very difficult to get up out of bed for work. The worst part is the fatigue. I need help. I called the Womens Health department (I'm on a budget here) I'm a grad student with no health insurance. They told me that I have to wait until the period stops before I can have an examination. There is no telling when that will be. What can I do?

Why are all of us getting the same responses from doctors?? I'm 19 and I ahve been on my period for a month now. Mine have always been very irregular, but always last for three days. This is scaring the out of me. I want to know what is wrong with me, and yea, it does feel like you are going to bleed to death. But there is no pain. We are all in the same boat, so why does no one have an answer???

Default This is Crazy!!!

I don't understand what is going on, or why nobody has the answers. I am 19 and a virgin. I used to have regular periods. Sometime in high school, they pretty much stopped, and I would have them anywhere from 1-6 times a year. They were always medium flow, and not too bad to deal with. I have not had a period since late December, but started again in early March. So far it's been light to medium and pretty easy to deal with, but the last couple of weeks have been unpredictable. There have been days where I bleed through a super plus tampon in 20 minutes, and have pretty good sized clots. This only lasts for about 12 hours or so, and then it's back to normal again. I have considered birth control, but it seems like that isn't working for most people. I have also considered taking iron since I feel like I just keep bleeding... Has anyone done that? I've talked to some friends about missing so many periods and they think I'm "lucky." If they only knew what was going on now! Hopefully someone will get answers soon

Hello ladies! I'm suffering through this with you. This is definitely not a happy period. I am 36, and have had irregular periods all my life. ( I never knew when they were coming, and sometimes I wouldn't get a period for 5 months) However, they never lasted longer than 7 days. That is until now. I started mine in the beginning of April, stopped for a week, started again and have been bleeding since. I bleed most days, but tend to get a break for one day or for a few hours here and there. The only other problem is that I have been getting a bit crampy and sometimes I get lightheaded. I have never been on any birth control, and have one child with hubby. I'm hoping it isn't early menopause. I feel for all of you. Hang in there, and don't be afraid to get testy with those doctors. Sometimes we can be too nice and just accept a quick and undetailed answer. Have them explain in detail what is happening to you, and ask lots of questions. If I go to the doctor for this, I think I'm going to a woman.

Default 3rd week bleeder, 31

I have a same problem and I am wondering if we could fix this ourselves.
Someone has previously mentioned that contractions cause more bleeding. I know that pregnant women should not be drinking herbal teas like mint that provoke contractions but are there any herbs that do the oposite?

Iron:
Once I have read somewhere that you could tell if you do not have enough iron by having curved nails. Did you guys observe this yourselves before this happened to you? I have had them like that all my life.
I used to have nose-bleeds also all the time. Someone has adviced me to drink orange juice for iron (vitamin C in orange juice helps to absorb iron), I imagine that grapefruit might be even better. I keep reading about the importance of iron to fix these problems.
I am going to try it for my period, I will let you know.

Another thing but this might be a little too crazy. Someone has mentioned something about producing too much blood that is why this is happening.
I did not tell you that my nose-bleeds were less frequent as I got my period (irregular for years of course). Only recently I have really mastered this problem by massaging my nostrils inside with olive oil) I know...
So could it be that I just have too much blood inside me?
Should I just donate it instead?

By the way I am not a virgin and haven't been for years. I was active up to the day of my period and would like to be as soon as this stops!

Default still bleeding

I have been reading on iron and vitamin C.
If the two are taken in high dosages, it could cause rusting of blood!

There are two types of iron - heme (or hemi) iron, which does not need the vitamin C for absorbtion and is found in meat; non-heme, which is found in vegies and fruits and needs C.
