Ok I am 29 years old and have been married for 12 years No kids. I have been on Orthotrycyclin Low for a little over a year now and my husband and I still use a Condom. We just are not wanting to have children just yet.

I have always been on time with my period, I can just about pin down the hour to when I will start. I am very regular taking my birth control pill always one time same time everyday, however there are a few times when I was a little early taking the pill 30min-1 hour early, but never late taking it.

This weekend I started having some odd speratic cramps, they would come a go, and did this for about 4 days. I am 7 days before my period is due. Then yesterday I realized I started early, but it was very light spotting, then after a few hours it just quit, then started up again this morning but very light. On top of all this, i did have some odd pain on my right side, sharp pain yesterday, that was just after I realized I had started. What I don't know is, could this really be my period? And I have NEVER had an early period, also I have never had cramps like these, very odd and lasting for days. My husband and I do fool around without a condom but always put one on just before the deed. Is it possible I could be pregnant? My period is not expected until next Sunday. I still have light cramps today (5th day of cramps) I was very emotional this morning and started crying for no reason really.

If we where to get pregnant it would not be a bad thing and would be fully welcomed. But we are just not ready to try for a baby yet.

I have not had any stress or change in diet, so I do not know why my period would be so off this time. I will be turning 30 in October could my body just be changing some?

It's HIGHLY unlikely you are pregnant if you've been taking the pill every day for a year. And even MORE unlikely since you're also using condoms. Antibiotics can decrease the effectiveness of your bc, but even then with the use of condoms you should be totally fine.

BC pills don't always remain consistent. One pill might work for you for years, then suddenly cause you issues. It's more than likely a side effect of the pill.

Thank you for the reply. while I am a little disappointed I somewhat hoped I was lol. I am also somewhat relieved to know its unlikely that I am. I have not taken anything as for meds. I do have an appointment to seem my Doctor next month so I will mention this to her as well.
