    Default EXTREME pms

Ok, so just like the title says, once a month I turn into a monster. My pms is so extreme it takes over my whole life. For the most part I'm a health conscious person- watch what I eat, work out 5 times a week.

But every month, about 16 days before my period starts, I feel a noticeable drop in my energy that lasts maybe two days, and then BOOM, it takes over. And for the next two weeks, I have so little energy that I can't get out of bed; on the days I don't drag myself outta bed I've slept till 2 in the afternoon and still felt tired!; I just feel like I can't wake up. (I think that's called hypersomnia??)

Not only that but I feel like I can barely concentrate on basic daily tasks and even talking to people takes superhuman effort. I get extremely irritable over the smallest things and snap at everyone around. Normally I'm a super clean person but during this time most of my housework doesn't get done. And as bad as these symptoms are, I feel like the worst is my eating...it's completely out of control. I probably consume between 3-5,000 calories every day sometimes even more than that. There is no self-control, no matter how hard I try. There's only intense hunger and cravings that get the better of me. As weird as it sounds, I feel like I need all that food. And obviously, seeing as how I have to force myself to do things like taking a shower and brushing my teeth, I absolutely cannot exercise. (The only thing that prevents me from blowing up like a balloon is that after it's all over, I work extra hard to burn off everything.)

3 days after I start to bleed, I slowly return to my normal self again. Does this sound like pmdd? I dread that time of the month. Can anyone give me some insight or recommend any home remedies that have worked for you? (Goen to the dr is out, I don't have health insurance and I'm in a sticky financial situation.) I already take fish oil and vitamin B-complex, and it does help, but not nearly enough. Is there anything out there that will really help, or do I have to just suck it up until I'm able to go to the dr? Any advice is appreciated, and sorry for writing a novel :P

Add a Calcium, Magnesium and Zinc supplement to your daily regimen.

It sounds like the onset of your PMDD is from ovulation to period. Obviously that makes sense because it is during that time when your hormones are fluctuating and changing the most.

SAMe is something you can buy at walmart. It's a chemical (S-adenosylmethionine) that our brains naturally produce. This chemical influences so many things in your body, and can play a role in depression, pain, etc when you're not producing enough. It's not cheap but it's cheaper than doctors visits and prescriptions and also avoids you being put on anti-depressants or birth control pills. My brother, when going through the initial recovery of alcoholism, used SAMe to help with his anxiety. He swore by it. Do some reading about it and give it a shot. You could try only taking it from ovulation through your luteal phase (until your period starts) and see if that helps you at all.
