I started having my period when I was 9 years old. When I was about 14 it started getting very heavy and I would soak through everything. I couldn't even go for a walk or spread my legs because it would run down my thighs. I would also get severe cramp for about 5 days, so I was totally useless and house bound for that whole week. The doctor put me on birth control pills after all tests came back normal. The pills worked well, and I took Marvalon (sp?) most of the time and he switched me to Yaz a few years ago.
I am now 21 years old, and after hearing about the side effects of Yaz I stopped taking it . After stopping the pills I didn't have a period for about 4 months, I had no bleeding or symptoms at all, HOWEVER I was very nauseous and showing all the signs of being pregnant, but that was not possible because I'm a virgin.
It finally leveled out, and I've been having hit and miss periods ever since. They aren't heavy, and I felt pretty good. But, now about 6 months since I stopped the pills I feel sick again. I'm very fatigued, dizzy, headaches, nausea (no actual vomiting) mood swings and I'm very melancholy for no direct reason. I also get really hot and sweat a lot at times, kinda like a hot flash.
I feel like since I started taking the pill so young, perhaps I never learned what real PMS is? Are those symptoms normal? I'm over a week late this month, so I'm assuming I probably won't get it at all. I had my period about 3 months in a row but that's it so far. I read that it can take over a year for my reproductive system to get back to "normal". Is that true?
I really want to stop the pills, I don't have a boyfriend so I don't need them for contraception and the bleeding hasn't been a problem yet. Are these feelings normal? I have a check up booked in September, so I was going to ask about it then. But, I was just wondering if anyone could relate.
Its alright if you wanna go off the pill. Although it helps regulate your period if you want to stop taking it you can. Your period might get a little off track for a couple of months though.
