Spotting in between periods...never happened before.

Last month about 2 weeks after my period ended I started to get this dark brown/red discharge (the kind you normally get right at the end of your period). I thought this was pretty odd since I've never had this in the middle of my cycle before...and I've had my period for about 13 years now. But, I didn't think much of it because other than the dark discharge nothing else was going on and it only last about 5 days. Well...this month the exact same thing happened. About 2 weeks after my period ended, I started to get dark brown/red discharge. I've been doing some research about this online trying to figure out what this is but I'm seeing all different answers...Some say its normal...but since this has never happened before, is it really normal? Some say it's a symptom of pregnancy, but since I havent missed any periods, I doubt I'm pregnant. And then other say, it could be an infection...but I don't have any of other infection-like symptoms. ANY HELP or advice appreciated...I don't have my gyno appt. for 2 more months!! Thanks!

Not all blood and uterine lining is discharged during a period. Some is left in there and at a later date it will be pushed out, it is not a predictable thing. Brown spotting happens to all women at some point in their cycles, maybe not everytime but it can be a frequent thing.
