I have a strong concern for an issue I've had for a very long time. For a while now, when I start my period I begin feeling really dizzy and weak, and occassionally I do pass out because of it. This is a reoccuring issue that happens just about every time I begin mensturating.

I was sent home from work today because I have in fact started my period and nearly "hit the floor" on the job. I then began feeling really weak, and I was scared to death to drive home in the condition I was in... but I made it home safely.

I called and talked to my mother about the incident (as I have always done when it happens) and each time she tells me it's because I'm anemic (she knows because she is in the medical field) and she says that my iron is extremely low and when I start my period it hits me pretty hard because I'm losing blood. She said that "it drains me". Many other people have told me that I "pass out" and "get sick" because they think I have a low tolerance for pain... I do get bad cramps... but I deal with those pretty well. Besides, I've even passed out in the past (several times) without being on my period.

I am just hoping to find some answers and more opinions from others, and I would love to get some advice from people who are going through the same thing as me (being anemic).

Thanks,
HD
