    hi,
i'm an architect and have to visit place to place for supervision and professional prupose. i'm 26 and unmarried. got problems like irregular cycles ..and long duration. the gap between 2 cycles generally 40-50 days.and duration 8/9 days average.i took gynocological treatment several times, when i take medicines it becomes quite normal (both in cycle and duration) but later on ....no change. recently a new thing i'm facing which i hvnt talked to anybody else!! i.e. 2/3 days before the periodical cycle my nipple aches and at the time of cycle that pain increases with whole breast pain. i'm not familiar with this type of pain. the veins of my leg, thai also causes pain at this time. cant really figure out whats wrong ..with me???? isnt it abnormal? i've already taken too much medicine/ painkiller before. thats why afraid to face the doctor. can any 1 suggest me or share some thing with me.......

It is very normal to experience breast tenderness during certain times of the month. Some women feel it and some don't. It can come and go at various times in life as well. I personally had a period of time where they hurt so bad that you almost couldn't touch them, but now that hardly ever happens and I am 27. The amount of tenderness is directly related to the amount of hormones in your body.

Some women will suffer from irregular periods for most of their life and it's normal. However, it can some times be a sign of an underlying illness or problem. You might want to get a second opinion from a new gynecologist just to be on the safe side.

I know you don't want to take any medications anymore, but if you are having normal irregularities that are not caused by illness, then the only way to regulate your periods would be to take birth control pills or hormone therapy. It will also help you to avoid stress as this is a well known cause for irregular periods.

    Unhappy same problem!

Hi Sharmila! I am not in your age range(37 years old), but I really sympathize with what you are currently experiencing. I have a long history of an irregular menstrual cycle. The only time I've been regular was for about a year or so after giving birth to both my daughters. It seemed for a while that the pregnancies really helped me balance my cycle, but eventually I experience pretty much the same thing you do(i.e., long gap between cycles 40-50 days, 8-9-day periods, and cramping from the beginning to the end of my cycle--meaning pretty much ALL the time. The cramping has gotten worse, and like you, my legs hurt. Right now, it's very hot where I am and my legs are swollen. Some people have told me it's because I run a lot. While I run 3-5 times a week, I don't think I do it excessively(usually 3-4 miles per run). Like you, I have taken oral contraceptive pills which have regulated me, but have actually made my leg pain worse. I have an appointment to see my gynecologist early next month. I'll keep you posted. I wish I could offer you some helpful information. I must say I was relieved to read your message.

Maybe the two of you should also concider seeing a heart specialist about the pain in your legs? Just a thought, but leg pain can often be an indicator of a cardiovascular problem. It could a different problem all together.
