Hello.. I was just wondering, when you went to your doctor did she just give you an internal exam or did she do some kind of biopsy? I work at a obgyn and the doctors there have strict protocol on what to do for women over the age of 40 with abnormal espeacialy heavy bleeding. First we do a pregnancy test to rule out possibility and the they will have us check your Hemoglobin with a little prick of the finger to make sure Iron count is not low due to the heavy blood loss and then they do a biopsy. usually an endometrial biopsy it takes about 10 minutes . we then send it to the lab to check for any abnormalities. Also they will end you for bloodwork which checks for hormones that may be a sign of menapause. Have you had any of this done? Hysterectomy is sometimes a good choice maybe even an ablation but you need to find a doctor that will sit down with you and talk your options out. I would believe it's not something you want to staydealing with in your everyday life.

yep and she flowed really heavy eventually. she was going through like 3 super pads stacked on top of one another. she couldn't contain the flow after awhile. her case was extreme and she was full of fibroids. well i hope your at home test gives you some answers your also seeking about your menopause.

>>Hello.. I was just wondering, when you went to your doctor did she just give you an internal exam or did she do some kind of biopsy?<<
Last month my doctor did an internal exam and said everything felt fine. The 1st 3 days I was bleeding heavy with a lot of clots. I went to her on the 5th day (I was bleeding very light). Then it stopped on the 10th day.
Last Feb, I was told I had HPV and Abnormal Cells. I had a colposcopy done which was benign. Since then I had about 3 paps done and they were all normal.
I got my period on Thursday. I bled heavy for about 2 days with a lot of clots and I'm still bleeding but not heavy.
I was never heavy where I had to change my pad every hour but to me my period was heavier than I'm used to and bright red. I don't like that color. I'm going to call my doctor and tell her there's a reason for my heavy bleeding.
Any suggestions?
Thank You,
Bernice

Wow, my flow isn't heavy enough to where I have to change my pad every hour but it's heavier than normal. Plus I don't like the bright red thoughtout my period. Last month and this month are not normal periods for me. I'm nervous about it.

I called my doctor and told her I was still bleeding (5th day and very light and still bright red). She couldn't fit me in today which tells me she doesn't think it's anything to worry about. I made an appointment for Wednesday but then I called the women's center and made an appointment for tomorrow. My doctor is a family doctor but she also does my paps. The women's center is an OBGYN. I went to them once before to have a colposcopy done. I guess it's like getting a second opinion. There's a reason my periods haven't been normal but my doctor doesn't seen to care.
I read that fibroids can be felt during a pelvic exam. Last month, my doctor did that and said everything felt fine. So now I'm thinking that if I had fibroids, she would have felt it and since did didn't, I'm even more nervous.

I went to my OBGYN. She did an internal and said everything felt fine. She also said my uterus was tilted. She couldn't feel any fibroids. She sent me for blood work (anemia) and I'm getting a pelvic ultrasound on Friday. I got a copy of my blood work and the HGB was low 11.4 (should be 12.0-16.0) and the HCT was low 33.1 (should be 38.0-47.0). Does anyone know what this means? I'm still waiting for my doctor to call me. I'm a nervous wreak about the pelvic ultrasound.
I also get period like cramping right after my period. It's like I just got over my period and I'm cramping again but my period doesn't come until the next month. Could that be a sign that something was wrong and now that I'm having longer heavier periods, it's worst. I don't bleed in between periods and my periods are heavy (with lots of clots) for about 3 days and then it slows down a lot for a while.
Any sugggestions?
Thank You,
Bernice
