49; breakthrough bleeding while on pill for yrs
I have been on the BC pill (ortho tri cyclen) for years now and I started a period while still in the pill had 3 days to go and then normally 5 days until period starts. Now I have been bleeding for 10 days and it doesn't look like it it going to check up any time soon. Would progesterone cream stop this or make it worse. This is the first time it has ever happened and I have been taking the BC pill for years.
Do not take any Progesterone unless your doctor finds that you have a progeserone deficiency. Taking it when you don't need it can have bad consequences!
Your body may be going through a natural hormone change or there may be an underlying condition which is causing your problems. If it is a hormone change, the doc may just tell you to wait it out or try changing birth control or doses. Excessive stress can often be the cause of irregular periods as well. The only way to know for sure is to see your doctor.
