Is it ok to skip your period by starting a new pack of birth control pills as soon as you are done with one pack. (skipping the fake pills for the week of your period) if it is ok. . does it work?

A lot of people do that and take the fake ones every other month or every three months. I would talk with your doctor about it first though. He/she may want to put you on a different pill if you are going to take it that way.

I think it's okay as a one off or as sourpuss said your doctor might want to give you a different pill. When my friends are going on holiday and they don't want to get their period they just take the next pack after they've finished the first.
