Question 4 Missed Periods & Not Preggers Yet - Why??? Pls Help!

ok where do i start .....

i'm not on birth control (was only on it for about a year and that was in 1999-2000), been married for approx 9 years now & i have no kids as of yet - but having fun trying! i've done about 6 pregnancy tests and now my periods are irregular --- why????? .... AND i want to get pregnant!!!!

so, here i am at 35 yrs old and my period has been always, always regular every 28 days ... until a few months ago. last october 2007 was when i started being irregular and i missed my period for 3 months after that, so it would be november, december and january that i've missed sooooo, i booked an appt to see my doctor and she ran some different tests: blood tests, urine tests, i got a pap test done (needed it at this time anyways) and i also got an ultrasound done called a transvaginal.

NOW .... i get my results back and my doctor says everything is OK she's at a dead end and cannot understand why? she also ruled out pregnancy cause she and i have been doing the medical strip test and the store bought tests and NOTHING!!!!

alrighty then, soooooooo ....i thought maybe i needed a vacation to relax and not be so upset about this and i went in february 2008 and what happens ... of course ... i get my my period - yep and i was soooooo happy and it lasted 8 days and it usually lasts about 3-4 days but i didn't care - I GOT MY PERIOD - YAY!!!

now i did get my next period in march and NOW i missed it again in april and this month may (should of been on may 2nd) ----- i'm so upset and confused and i don't know what to do anymore .... AND i am trying to get pregnant ... AND i'm not getting any younger!!!!

soooooooooooo, if anyone out there feels like your going through the same thing here - you're not alone and if you need any advice or help like i do - pls respond to this and we'll help each other through these sad times.

regards,

Smile hope this helps

I Had Tried For About 9 Yrs. To Get Pregnant With My Second Child. I Did Not Have Regular Periods. I Finally Found A Dr. That Discovered That My Insulin Levels Were Not The Correct Numbers. I Took Clomid And An Insulin Pill And Together We Were Able To Achieve A Pregnancy. I Have A Beautiful 6 Yr Old And She Has An Older Sister Of 19. She Was Well Worth All The Trouble And Waiting. I Know It Is Very Frustrating. Talk To Your Dr. About Checking Your Insulin Levels My Levels Were Reversed So They Were Not Where They Needed To Be. Good Luck And I Will Pray For You A Baby To Make Your Life Complete.

As you very well know everyone woman's body is different. Some women start their periods as young as 8 years old and some start as old as 16. Same goes with menopause. Some women start very early and some have it very late. Maybe you should talk to your doctor about this.

Hi there lrlnok,

Thank you so very much for your response. I put this message on awhile back and got no responses for it and I was little under the weather cause I thought no one out there understood what I was going through so I was very happy to see that someone else has gone through the same situation. Funny you metioned this cause I just went to see my gyno yesturday and he prescribed me these same pills (clomid) and will have to start taking them on my 3rd to 7th day of my cycle .... BUT, I was not getting my period and I had taken (provera pills) for 14 days prior to this and now just waiting for my cycle to start and then I can start the clomid pills and I hope they work.

Again, THANK-YOU soooooo much for your response and your well wishes ... you TRULY made my day and now have a better outlook on this.

Red face good luck

Sounds like you are doing all you can, but ask your Dr. about the insulin medication, I cannot remember the name of the drug. I got pregnant in 3 months after starting the meds. Keep me posted and I hope to hear of a BABY in the future. Don't give up!
Just pray for a little one and I'm sure that God will bless you and I will agree in this prayer with you.

I'm right there with you. My fifth should have started today and as of right now... nothing! I have taken 4 pregnancy tests all which came back negative. I am now going to see a fertility specialist.

Have you tried Provera? It is used to stimulate the uterus to have a period? Or Clomid? Which is used to stimulate hormones and the growth and release of a mature egg. These will be our next steps. I am personally holding on to what a friend recently told me though... she had to take 6 negative tests before she got a positive. This was over the course of a couple months so maybe? Gosh I wish that was me.

Good luck and keep us all posted!

Hi ready4mommyhood,

Thank you so much for the email.

Actually, I did take Provera about maybe 3 weeks ago and then my gyno prescribed me Clomid. Sooooo, I did get my period "YAY" and then started on Clomid and just finished them about a week ago. Now .... I hope I am ovulating because my gyno said I was not before - that's why he prescribed me the Provera so I could get my period 1st and the Clomid so I can ovulate.

My hubby and I are now trying every other day since I finished the Clomid and now I'm just waiting for my next period to come (which I don't want it to come) .... hopefully I will be blessed and find out that I'm pregnant! But if I don't get my period and I'm not pregnant - I need to book another appt with my gyno and see what the is really going on with my body!!!

AND ... just a little insight on Provera & Clomid - if you think you are going to use them, that's great - and I hope they work for YOU! ... but they do have different side effects for each person ... for me they made me feel so bloated and I got some mild headaches -- that's all ... but check out some websites and read about how they work and the side effects cause that is really how I got all my info and answers - plus this site really helps me alot with the support with other REAL people going through things like this.

So, keep you chin up and hopes up .... and I wish all goes well for you - God bless us!

I will keep you posted.

Again, THANK-YOU soooooo much for your email.
