    Angry Passing Clots-43 days

I know that there are a lot of questions on here about passing clots but here goes.

I went to the GYN for a normal check up and to change my birth control (3 mos off of Depo). After my exam I began to spot. 2 days later I began passing clots-not bleeding so much just the clots. The clots are the size of 2 fingers (pointer and middle together) and I pass clots throughout the day. Since they are so big I am changing my pad about 7-8 times a day (if not sitting on the toilet). I am not sleeping as I can literally feel them coming out. I started feeling tired and I was cramping constantly. This has been non stop and about 14 days ago I went back to the GYN to see what was going on. He told me that I may have a uterine polyp and put me on a hormone patch and iron pills. The patch only relieved the pain for 2 days but now I am bleeding with the clots.

I am extremely uncomfortable and passing clots feels like . The nurses in the GYN's office were grossed out when I got up and they saw them so I am not confident that my GYN can treat this. PLEASE HELP.

Hmm... I just wonder if what you are passing is not actually normal. What is coming out are not clots. They are actually globs of uterine tissue that are filled with blood. What happens during our period is that our uterine wall becomes engorged with blood. Our bodies then start to shed that lining. Our hormones will determine how thick or thin the wall is before it is shed. So the thicker the wall, the more tissue globs you will see. Since you stopped taking Depo and started a new birth control, the change in hormones will have caused a change in your uterine lining. Thus, making your wall thicker and your discharge different. Also, being on Depo, I am guessing you did not have your period while on that? So now that you are having a cycle and your hormones are fluctuating from the new birth control, you are probably experiencing normal cramps that you just had not before. So it may seem like a shock to you to have these new cramps. Keep in mind that menstraul cramps are not a pretty thing to deal with. Many women (like me) are almost dibillitated by cramps and can't do anything because they are in so much pain. With your hormones being out-of-whack, you may have cramps even when you are not on your period.

Granted, it may be true that there is something else wrong with you. But I would honestly consider some of the things I said because this is all far too common. Not only that, but many doctors will try to immediately fix you however they can by giving you this or giving you that when really... what you need to do is let your hormones balance back out.

When I stopped taking Depo, it took a year to get my period back. And when I did, it was irregular for another year and became so heavy and painful I thought I was dieing. I just had to wait it out and eventually, I was back to being a normal woman again.

    Hope this helps!
    ~Jessica
