Hi,
I had a similar happening with an "early loss". The doctor could tell by a blood test of my levels. You mentioned being off of birth control. Do you think it could have been an early loss?
I am 41 yrs old and my period has been different since I went off birth control after my last child about 5 yrs ago. It is normally every 3 weeks. This time it didn't happen until 5 weeks and it won't end. I had a pretty normal period until it got to the end and now I have had a continous brown discharge for another week. It is not heavy but is always there. A couple of times there was a little red blood but mostly just a discharge of the brown enough to cause me to have to wear a liner. What could this be? Can I wait to see what happens or do I need to see the doctor?
Thanks!

My husband had a vasectomy after my daughters birth about 5 years ago so I don't believe it could be that. Thanks for replying.
You are probably just having a normal irregular period. They are very common and nothing to be alarmed by. Many things can make your period suddenly irregular. Such as stress, illness, and normal hormonal changes. Something probably just threw it off a bit. Give it some time, try not to stress, and it should go back to normal after a while. Keep in mind that some women can become irregular for several months. The change in color and texture of your blood is also normal.
