Unhappy Extreme Tampon Fear

I'm not sure why I have such a fear of using a tampon.
I'm scared of inserting one, and I'm scared of the idea of having something IN THERE for hours.
But, seeing as tomorrow's the 4th, I'm going in the river.
The river is my thing, and I've been out plenty of times with a pad and shorts on all day. It's very annoying.
I've tried putting one in before in the cabin of a boat once, a few years back... I was caught up and forgot I was close to starting my period.
I suppose I tensed up because my mother was there watching me, but it hurt before I even got the tip in.
I would love to get over this fear of mine, and any advice would help.
I don't believe it would hurt anymore, I'm just too scared.

erm how old are you? you mum was watching you do that? no wonder you couldnt manage it.

saying that i have a fear of them too but mine is that they get lost or the string comes off them inside of me as i cant get them back out myself, i had that happen once and had to leave it there for 4 days til my husband could fish it out for me, not a nice thing for him either to see,

next time you try them perhaps if youtry after a bath or something and then do it when your period hasnt started and practise, also i find that using the ones with an applicator works far better as they dont tend to stick to your insides instead of sliding in. no mess either!!!

Thumbs up tampons

It was a while before i could get used to tampons and i could tell that it was there also giving me pain and had to remove it.So what i did is Start off with the regular size and make sure you use the ones with an applicator Tampax are the best to try, like i said it took some time to get used to them and like me you will get used to them and then you will be able to go swimming. They feel that comfortable you hardly know they are there so remember to change. So if you feel comfortable, the string is loose the applicator has been disposed of so now relax.
