Default Issues with spotting b4 period

I've been on birth control (Yasmin) for about one year with absolutely no problems. My period has always come like clock work, always on the same day of the week, a Tuesday. I've never missed a pill and I take it faithfully about the same time every evening. On Sunday, I started spotting exactly nine days before my period is supposed to start. The spotting started after intercourse so I assumed that might have had something to do with it. On Monday, I still spotted slightly, and on Tuesday the same, yet it started to get somewhat thicker, not like the sprinkles of light blood it appeared to be on Sunday but more of a thicker brownish discharge and I started cramping a little. I called my docter and was told to wait it out until Tuesday, when my period is due to see what happens, and if needed I should go in. I'm not experiencing any vaginal itch so I'm not sure, although possible, if it's an infection. I'm a little anxious and was wondering if anyone might have any advice or can tell me what these symptoms may be a sign of.

Basically the exact same thing is happening to me... I take yasmin as well, and have been on it for 2.5 years. I have never had any spotting or any other side effects of yasmin until recently. For my past three cycles i have had spotting 10 days before my period and 8 days before my period... and randomly after. I also get cramping about five days before my period. I always get my period on a Wednesday, and have had normal cycles since i have been spotting. My OBGYN told me to come in if it has happened three cycles in a row... I scheduled an appointment, but I have to wait a few months for her to have time to see me... I'm just curious to know if you have found out any information on this. Thank you.
