    Unhappy Zoloft question??????

I have been taking Zoloft for about 8 years now. I suffer from anxiety/depression. About a week ago I started to feel the anxiety returning ( it feels like a year already). The sick feeling in my stomach, the ready to jump out of my skin feeling. So I increased my zoloft and am waiting for the increased dose to kick in. I am up to 150/mlgs a day. The max is 200, I believe. Anyway, would anyone know how long it takes for the increased dose to take effect? I know its working because of the dry mouth, headaches and other symptoms related to this.

I just want this to be over with.

What driggered do you think, for you to need to increase the dosage?

I am all for assistance with drugs to relieve things however, 8 years is a long time and higher dosages to me means, that you are not benefiting at all..

Can you get to see a phsycologist to ascertain why you suffer from anxiety and depression or can you talk about it with us, so we can offer our thoughts to try to help decrease it?

Living with headaches and dried mouth as well as despression and anxiety surely is not the way to live for the rest of your life.

See your doctor. I hope you didn't increase your dosage without the advice of your doctor. Sometimes with these pills, our bodies "adjust" to them, making them not so effective. I have had that happen with depression medications, including Zoloft. Be careful with Zoloft, because you can also become dependent on it. There are people who have tried to stop taking these pills, and cannot because their body is so dependent on it in order to properly function. So do not take more then prescribed unless your doctor says it's okay.

Have you tried any anxiety medications? Maybe ask your doctor if they can give you a beta-blocker or something better for the anxiety. Beta-blockers help with the physical symptoms of an anxiety attack. They control your heart rate, blood flow, ect. Regulates everything, basically. They are not recommended if you have asthma, however. They are also non-addicting, so they are safer then Xanax.

Along with everyone else I hope you checked with your Dr. before upping your meds. Perhaps you should try a different medication. When I was on mine I used to stop taking it periodically just to check I still needed it. Zoloft takes several weeks to get into your system from having none, but I'm not sure how long it takes to register just a change in dose.

I've been taking Zoloft (sertraline) for four weeks and im still waiting for some benefits but the side effects have mostly subsided. My doctor said that it takes time so i would imagine it would take four or so weeks for the increased dose to take effect. Talk to your GP to make sure you're on the right dose and the right type of medication, you might need to try something else
