I just returned from Iraq so we took a little 4 day trip to Spain for Memorial weekend. We flew Ryanair and it was absolutely horrible, there was such bad turbulance at one point that the whole plane screamed! well, that was on the way down, on the way back , not so bad, but he couldn't even sit up straight. he was sweating and everything. He's made an appointment with Mental Health here at base but the appointment's the 22nd of June, we're supposed to fly to the states from the UK here on the 1st of July. I bought the tickets back in April b'c he wanted to go, but ever since that flight with Ryanair, he wants to cancel his ticket. I'm at a loss here. if i back out as well, i feel as if i'm letting my family down. i haven't seen them in almost 2 years and they all know i'm coming in as of right now. But I feel bad for going by myself, b'c i know he wants to go, he's just not mentally able right now.
Is one visit with mental health going to be good enough?

Hard to say. Has he had this problem before? I hate little planes, but have no problem with big ones. Those little private planes can be awful, you feel everything! All you can do have him go in and see what happens?

And if he still doesn't want to go back after the appointment, am I selfish for going by myself?

No that wouldn't be selfish, you need to re connect with your family, especially after being deployed, they know you are safe and well but they and you need to touch and hug! Your hubby needs that too but you've has some time for that. Could the recent air disasters have anything to do with his concerns?

yes the air france flight happened the same day we flew back form Spain. So that just added on to the anxiety. He doesn't like the fact that if something were to happen that no one would ever find his body. He has his appt today with Mental Health. I will keep ya'll updated.
