I have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) due to sexual abuse and horrendous domestic violence during the late 80’s and 90’s. Things have happened recently which has unravelled my stability and control of my issues, it has plain ripped the band aids off inside me. The anxiety, jumpiness and mind churning that is part of the PTSD has taken over again and I am wonder if anyone out there understands what I mean and if you do how do you ease this feeling????

Have you joined a support group? It is crucial that you find a group or a professional to help you and walk you through relaxation techniques, and mental and emotional processing. I have dealt with this myself, and also dealt with a person who has it. Do you also suffer from occasional depression? Do you currently take any medication?

Thanks for your reply. I am a full time working mum with 4 young children at home so find it hard to join any groups etc but have been getting a little bit of support recently, I am not on any medications. Yes I do have a touch of the black hole feeling sometimes.

There may also be a group of support, in this regard On-Line. Often there are and I would recommend you search,"google" and see what you come up with, there you can talk to people that are suffering and going through the same thing as you and get ideas of how they cope.
But, don't leave here we are here for you as well... Just venting and talking about it in your own thread can be very theraputic. It may also be difficult for you as you have 4 children (young), does your husband help you alot? If not, you may need to sit him down and let him know your not coping as well just at the moment and need his support. Medications, will help you relax for sure... Have you considered speaking to your local Doctor about all of this? You also have to work through what has bought this to the core again and dis-enabling you to cope as you were. Find solutions for that, we don't know you so feel free to disclose what ever you feel, perhaps we can work on this with you. Welcome to the Forum CW

Thanks, my husband and I have been together for 7 years but this year has been really hard on us and we are still together but living in separate homes (due to my freaking out) as our relationship reached such a negative and unhealthy level that for the childrens happiness I needed to move out and try and sort things out within myself and with our marriage with a safe place for children not to see or live round all the carnage. So my support from him is kinda not really there as he is pretty bitter (I can respect why he feels like that) that I felt I had to move away to sort this stuff out, he still there and says he loves us and wants to help get things sorted.
I will look online when I get time and thank you for such a lovely welcome, it can be so hard just to write out stuff. I am going to check out some meditation/visulisation stuff and see if that will help me get to a calmer state. Thanks |

Try to remember, that he is probably "scared". Men show emotions very different than women
He may seem bitter but deep inside he is probably scared as well, so if you love him, keep re-assuring him and also share with him what you are doing, ie) checking out meditation and visualisation.I use post it stickers To remind me daily of my self worth. You know people are all different in this world, some have a lot of love to give and give it for no reason, it just flows. Some have a lot of resentment towards the human race and don't care an iota about other people's bodies, or their feelings, only themself.. In some cases, I would go as far as stating that some are plain "evil".. If you can see that, then remember it's "them" not you... You did nothing wrong and grow in that knowing..... CW

Other than drugs...find a therapist that deals with trauma...not a talk-therapist.
EFT Emotional Freedom Technique might be helpful...google it. You need more than a support group. You could try some natural anti=anxiety supplements....Kali Phos, Nervoheel, again, you can google for more. |

Look up Dr Leo Galland and PTSD. He is one of only a few docs who have really worked with this successfully. There is a growing organization of health care providers who specialize in treating this.
