Ok, let's start the record now. What's yours at the moment? (LOL)

Update:
So I met with the therapist last night. She was very easy to talk to (probably a good characteristic considering) and she really got to what I wanted to talk about, what some issues might be, etc rather quickly. I am going to go see her once a week for a few weeks to kind of mainly talk through some things and come up with some methods to avoid repeating past behavior.
She said, I seemed relatively well balanced considering and that she didn't anticipate me having to come see her for long but I left feeling kind of "relieved". All-in-all a good first experience.

I've been in therapy since the age of 8 off and on. At first it was Family Therapy which I didn't really participate in. I sat and played with toys while the adults talked. Actually, I can't even remember if my dad was there or not. I'd imagine so but without asking, I can't know for sure. Can someone tell me your thoughts/experiences with therapy?
What you liked/didn't like about your therapist?
If you thought it was helpful, etc?
How exactly does it work when you go in the first few times? (I've only seen it on tv)
At 15 I started seeing my school counselor who I loved. At the same time I was seeing another counselor at a clinic. I liked her too. They both quit on me though. That is something I took hard.
Since then I've seen many counselors and have only connected with one until now. Mike... He was the best I've ever had up to this point. BUT... He quit on me too and I took that REALLY hard. I never knew you could get attached to a counselor.
So now I'm seeing a woman who I connect with completely. She's young enough to get me but old enough to give the guidance that I need. I can't stress enough how important the connection is. You have to have that plus trust otherwise you will get no where.
I only found therapy helpful while seeing Mike until now. I'm really working with my new counselor and it's been a wonderful experience so far. I've been completely honest with her and that is also a must have. If you're not honest, what's the point? I told her from the beginning (I took charge for the first time in therapy) and said, don't expect me to come in here and spill my guts because it won't happen. I need to be helped along the way, asked the questions not just, "How are you?" She was awesome about it and she gets me to open very easily.
Main points:
Be open and honest otherwise you're wasting time and money.
Must have a connection and trust otherwise again, you're wasting time and money and you won't get anywhere or achieve what you want to.
As for how it goes... I believe I read that you have already gone in so you obviously don't need to know that because you already do.
I hope this works out for you.
