I know I suffer from social anxiety disorder. I think the avoidand personality disorder is filled more with commiting crimes and doing bad acts.

Not really, the word avoidant means they want to stay away from social interaction and general activity. To them the worst thing in the world is being in a group of people as well as a fear of not doing well, and an extreme reluctance to take any sort of risks. Crime seems to be more associated with anti-social personalities because those people have zero ability to feel sorry for anything, they do not care about consequences or what people think. Many of the personality disorders have things in common so it is hard to determine what individuals may or may not have.
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.

Yeah, that confused me a bit there! LOL!
Avoidant doesn't mean crimes or bad acts...
You're thinking of "Anti-Social Personality Disorder", which is way different! And actually, that's the new term for "Psychopath" and "Sociopath". That's where crimes and bad things lay.

If you look up about Avoidant Personality Disorder, you'll find that it's very similar to Social Anxiety Disorder, but a little more extreme, with some key-factors not found in Social Anxiety alone. I have been going to therapy for Social Anxiety, for two years straight, with no results... basically because I have many other issues that seem to fit in more with Avoidant. And my therapist was trying to treat my other issues separately from my Social Anxiety, which meant for two years I had no progress in anything, as the sessions would jump back and forth in trying to treat everything differently. HOWEVER, if I do have AvPD, then it means I need a new course of treatment altogether... and one that may work, the next time around. Sadly, I got frustrated and upset with the lack of progress and quit that therapy... BUT, I will start again with another therapist and try to ask her more about Avoidant. The more research I do on it, the more it sounds like something that I may be suffering with. And I've let my closest friends and family look over what I had researched, to make sure I wasn't just being bias and hoping too much for a better solution with therapy. And they've all said, "Sounds JUST like you! Wow!" So... thanks again for mentioning this, LadyC. :-)
