Who on here has O.C.D , and how bad does it affect you.
For me having OCD means i focus too much on things been perfect instead of concentration on the situation. I need everything to be in its place all the time and if its not in its place i will put everything where it should be. over and over again.....
This OCD affect how i handy situations also.... like to fix and keep everyone else happy except me .....
This is when i get stressed and worked up about the small , unimportant thing in life that dont really matter to the bigger picture . How can i reduce my level of OCD

I guess it all about been able to controll thing and when i have done so much controling situatsions and you loose control, then it results in the thinking that it all seams a waste of time, but them the urge comes back to fix it all up again.Always going round in circles and getting no where

When you hold a belief so strong , how can you get your mind set around it, when you require to change it to the thinking of a new tought. As the new tought is the right way forward, with out thinking negitive toughts that all along the past hasnt been a waste of time .

What else is going on here , anyone else see what im not seeing

See a psychologist, they have several ways of changing behavior.

A therapist will offer ways to understand OCD.

Yeah research is a good way to get started. You can try places like well known science journals like NCBI, or pubmed. Do you have anyone in your family or group of friends that you could have a sit down with so that they can just be someone that can listen about your concerns?

Family is out as they dont understand things such as OCD and how it affects one.
Friends are good to understand and listen but i guess what im looking for here is someone who can relate ot me or have opinions on OCD.
As the saying goes , you cant really understand unless you go through/ experience it yourself.
i never really understood how acknowledging a problem is actually facing a problem but from posting here i now understand it.

New, hang in there. Its a little slow on the weekends but I am sure there will be plenty of women that will chime in with their personal experiences with OCD, either with themselves or someone close to them, how its effecting them and how they are personally dealing with it. This site is for sharing and I think its good if you research like its a secret mentioned and also very important to talk to a doctor... but for some emotional support and similiar experiences this is a good spot and someone else that has something relevent to your issue to discuss will definitely chime in.

I think it's a good idea to come to a Forum and see if there are others here that have tried various things before turning to Medical advice, could just be changing a thought pattern and how they have changed it, which no doubt, a physcologist would recommend in any event.

There is no harm in trying and asking and good for you.

Have a search through OCD threads already posted on this Forum as well, there are quite a few and you may gleen something there.

I personally, perhaps am too tidy, can't stop myself from doing somethings but I'm not OCD, my bed has to be made every morning for instance, dishes every time, even whilst I'm cooking, cleaning up after myself, but I neglect things as well, like my nails, or I put something off, because I can.

Maybe consider, saying what really should be done on-going and what can be put off? And, what can be put off, try it..

I always suggest that with anything that is repetitive, or compuslive, or addictive, to do it slowly, gradually.

Write down a list of things you cannot stop doing..

Them put them into a catagory in-other-words, and pick (1) to start with that you feel that you can prolong.. and try it.

I can relate to you. I have major OCD and yes, EVERYTHING 'has a home" and if it's not where it should be, then I get obsessed on having it fixed. My own personal experience is, let it be. When you get home from work and a shirt is on the floor, don't panic. Relax first then put it away later. I simply can't just let things sit where they're not supposed to. So instead of driving myself insane by putting things away right away. I make sure I relax first and unwind myself before getting to the fixing. And for some reason God forbids things are shifted and not how they should be placed. Just forget it. It's okay. You have better things to worry about than that. It's a working process. don't give up. I'm still working on it and yes, thought of seeing a specialist also. But not quite to that point yet. WE ARE STRONG. =)
