    Unhappy Bad Body, Bad Mind

I've struggled with the perception of my body for many many years now. Even back in the early years of high school when I was at the wieght and shape i wish i was now. For the past three years or so i've become less and less happy with my body, but I have some sort of mind block against actually doing anything to change myself.

I am a foodie, i love food of all sorts, especially cheese and chocolate, and I have the hardest time stopping eating those things, along with carbs like bread and meat (even though its mostly chicken breast). Can anyone give me tips on stopping my obsessive eating and craving? Sometimes i feel like im addicted to food, or im allergic to making good food choices.

Along with that, I'm having a very difficult time maintaining a strech/exercise routine. Even if i end up doing it for a week, it just falls apart after that. How can i keep up with it? I feel so dumb and lazy and i get so angry at myself and then the next day i do the same thing.

I hate my body yet I don't change

wtf is wrong with me? Does anyone else have these self distructive habits/thoughts.

Yes I do. Whenever I feel i am putting on some excess weight I eat salads and meats and some veggies. However I have been watching whati eat the last few weeks because I will be in a wedding. However that's besides the point. I hate my body as well. I say i will go on a diet eat less of this or that...however it sneaks up and i eat the same foods over and over! I feel my feet are too small (size 3 kids) I also feel my tummy is too big ( i'd say 30 in waist) as well as my chest having a 34 D chest. Also feel i am too short. I am five foot even. lol However that is my secret to sliming down is doing simple stretches and eating lighter i guess. My downside is fries, bacon burgers and chocolate too. As well as chips junk food cookies etc. I feel your sympathy. In fact. It sounds like your PMSing. Just a thought though. Hope you can come to terms with your body and accept who you are and how you look. Best wishes. Take care

I've gotten a good start to the day: fruit for breakfast and I just had eggs and brown toast with a grapefruit juice. I'm actually really proud of myself for not getting the hashbrowns and bacon!

And no, its definetly not PMS, unless im constantly PMSing, which is deffo not the case. I don't generally PMS anyways, and if i do it's for like two hours the day before my period and i just get a little sad-emotional. I know that I just need to be more aware of what im putting into my body and what i've been eating the past day/week and keep track of that, as well at exercise, but sometimes i just feel hopeless.

It is good to know that I'm not the only one, and I knew that from the start, but its good to actually hear (see) it in front of me.

Not sure what age you are, but are you on birth control pills?

I think what you are experiencing is nothing short of lack of motivation, most likely brought on by some sort of stress/fatigue. It becomes a cycle: gain some lbs, slack off on exercise, get more tired due to lack of exercise and not proper nutrition, don't FEEL like working out, keep eating, keep slacking off, gain more lbs, feel like working out even LESS than before etc etc etc.

How to break it? 1. Make SURE you are getting proper nutrients. Are you taking a multi vitamin? Have you considered getting your vitamin and hormone levels checked by your doctor? Many women find out they are deficient in B vitamins (specifically b12) and many women also have vitamin D deficiencies. It's truly appauling the difference these deficiencies can make in your daily life.

    2. Once you get your nutrients squared away and make sure you are at healthy levels and getting what you need daily you will experience a greater level of energy, and also a greater level of accomplishment having known you have done something good for your body. Our bodies and our minds are like roomates. One needs the other, but they think seperately and MUST teamwork in order to be happy/successful. So your body knows you're doing something good for it, and will reward your mind with greater levels of energy. Now's the time to bust out of your comfort zone and find what works for YOU. For me, it was aerobics classes that got me over that bad unhealthy complacent stage in my life. Yes, I had to bust out of my comfort zone, show up at class, and sweat my ever loving butt off (because I sure wasn't going to wuss out while all those other women were sticking with it!). My body got so sore.....but it was happy...and it thanked me by giving my brain the endorphins it needed to feel happy and good and motivated. Once you get in THAT cycle instead of the one you're on, you'll find yourself longing for those endorphins and longing for that feeling of accomplishment of another exercise successfully completed. That telling yoursef, "Oh I've tried before and I start but I never stick with it." ............that's just your minds way of fighting against your body and trying hard not to let anyone remove it from it's comfort zone.

    3. Once you get into a regular exercise routine, you'll find your appetite changing. Your body will start wanting things that provide it the energy and nutrients it needs to keep up with your physical activity. This is a great time to start researching new recipes, healthy alternatives to your current choices. First step in modifying your diet is to ELIMINATE sugars. (with exception of fruits, honey, or pure grade Maple Syrup). The less you eat it, the less you'll crave it. But the MORE you eat it, the more you'll want. There is no daily recommended amt of sugar, because it's not good for you in any qty. Next, eliminate white flours. Replace white crackers with triscuits. Replace white bread with multi grain or whole wheat flat rounds (GREAT option, in the bread isle with the rest of the bread). Incorporate highly digestible foods into every meal. Having healthy BM's several times a day is a great thing, it's removing all that "junk" from your body, ridding your intestines of the "sludge" that builds up as a result of eating unhealthy poorly digestible foods. But in order to achieve that, you have to eat foods that are high in fiber and easily digestible. Some examples: Dried apricots and eggplant. (You can google more)

So....Bad Body Bad Mind? You're exactly right, because one leads to the other and then it's a vicious cycle that only you can break. Remember, your body and mind are roomates. You can let them live together in chaos and disagreement, or you can use both of their strong points and teamwork to live a nice harmonious (and HEALTHY!!) life.
