    Question Xanax?

Please share your experiences with Xanax.
I am trying it (only have tried Prozac) for the first time to be able to leave my home after being homebound for a year and need to see the obgyn. She prescribed it so I could be seen.
I am medphobic and am nervous it won't help or will make feel worse.
I've had anxiety for 13 yrs, severe at that, this is a big step for me.

Xanax is a GREAT drug for anxiety and panic attacks (at least it was for me).

Prozac is an antidepressant that is sometimes used for anxiety. It is NOT an anti anxiety or panic attack med like Xanax.

I've had lots of experience with it. Just follow the dosing instructions and allow it to work.

It should IF you let it. Try and relax....it's going to be okay. You can do this.... Xanax and your friends in here can help.

Stay in touch...ask us questions....share how you are feeling.

    I wish you well.

It will IF you let it.

What I mean by that is, take it as prescribed and don't let your pride "I don't need this" or your fears "I'm afraid to take this" get in your way. Some prescribe it "as needed" others at regular intervals "once a day", "twice a day", etc.

Do exactly as the prescription says and you'll be fine.

You can always type it into one of the big search engines and go to the drug's web site for more answers.

It helped me a lot. I hope that it helps you too!

I used to have panic attacks and constant mild anxiety for about 6 years. To treat it you need to get to the root of the problem with some good therapy. If you get a therapist that doesn't help, move on to the next one. It's worth trying out a zillion therapists just to get to the one golden egg of them all (I found mine after 6 years and after a year of therapy with her I'm down to just 20mg Lexapro/day and even THAT I don't need but it's really difficult to get off).

I used to take Seroquil, Celexa, and lorazapam (<-as needed) to keep me calm. I'd also been given some xanax. Wow... you have a panic attack, pop one of those babies and you're goooooood to go. Xanax is one of those drugs that if you need it bad enough, it's worth every penny. It's the only thing that allows my sister to step foot on a plane. It's almost like it temporarily destroys your ability to feel fear. It's great for people who have bad phobias.

In a nutshell: You'll feel better than fine, you'll have no ability to feel fear anxiety or panic, you'll also need someone to drive you (i don't recommend driving with this on board your system) You'll be just fine. No worries (literally if you take it )

What good is a wiener dog if he's not spoiled rotten?
