This isn't a problem post per say. It's a heads up to everyone.
I have suffered from extreme PMDD since I was 15. I didn't get diagnosed with it until I was 21. PMDD was just starting to get diagnosed and doctors were finally starting to treat it. I have been treated with every birth control and anti-depressant out there.
Let me say to anyone that has recently been diagnosed.. You aren't alone.
I wasn't able to function at all during the week before and during my periods. I kept diaries and tracked everything. When I met my husband, he thought it was all in my head. He saw me go through a few cycles without my med's and insisted I go back on them. (that'll teach him) I am now 35 and have 2 kids. Last year I had a laproscopic supra cervical hysterectomy. I had come off Yaz (with my second child I had my tubes tied); only to discover I had adnomyosis and polyps. The only cure was a hysterectomy. The doctor didn't tell me the PMDD wouldn't go away. I am on an anti- depressant and sometimes feel the out of control feelings i would feel during my cycle.
To everyone out there I can tell you PMDD is no laughing game. It is not easy to deal with. You are not alone!!!!! I consider myself a survivor. I have lived with it for 20 years. Every month is a new battle.
