Everything is possible. If there is a will, there is a way. Don't give up. It may be difficult in the beginning but as long as you continue to slowly cut down on smoking, and finallly stop smoking. When you want to smoke, keep yourself busy with work, distract it.

First let me say that quiting smoking is probably one of the hardest things I've ever tried to do and through trial and error I can finally say that I am smoke free. For those who have never smoked you'll never truly understand what a smoker goes through while smoking and when trying to quit. Nicotine is such a powerful drug and when it is taken away from you your body goes through withdrawals much like a drug addict. Yes putting down the cigarettes sounds so easy but were not all equip to handle the withdrawal without some help.

I have smoked for over 30 years and until now the longest I've ever went when quitting smoking was 15 days. Today I can say that I am 47 days smoke free and having no desire to smoke. In the past I had tried it all: Nicotine patches, the gum, zyban and wellbutrin, cold turkey (and that was a joke) I even went and was hypnotized which worked for a while but after about a week I was right back smoking. What is different this time? Well there is a new drug out called Chantix. At first I thought it is going to be like all the rest and after a couple of days or weeks I'd be right back to smoking but I'm not and I sit her at my computer and can honestly say I don't want a cigarette. I have been off the medication for a week now but everyone is different and some may need to take it longer depending on what your doctor believes is best. I learned about this medication from a doctor who said the results she was having with her patients were remarkable.

I want to tell anyone who smokes and wants to quit that this is a miracle drug because for me it has been but you have to have some desire to want to quit.
And for those of you worried about your weight which is one of the things I was most concerned with I haven't gained any additional weight.

For those of you who want to quit smoking I wish you the best of luck and if I can quit anyone can.

I am not a smoker also, but my father is a a smoker...Knowing him as a smoker makes it hard to stop him...But for me, when you really want to quit smoking it will always depends on you and you yourself only can stop it...It will only takes a great determination for you to stop it.

    Good Luck!!!
