    Default smoking

I agree--Although I'm not a smoker--so i don't know exactly how it is--How hard can it really be...I'm a firm believer that if someone wants to do it --then they can and should be able to!

ive been smoking for 10 years.(im only 27). i have found myself stuck in a bad situation with smoking and losing weight. i had 3 children in 8 years and i lost the weight after the first two, but now im struggling just to have the energy to get off the couch, let alone lose weight or stop smoking. my old tricks arent working anymore. diet and exercise are doing nothing for me. i think my body has became immune to excersise. i am extremely over weight and i smoke like a chimney. arent smokers usually skinner? anyway i found that i need to lose the weight before im able to quit smoking, i know people say "just quit" but i dont see how thats possible with such an addicting thing as nicotine. for me its worse than any drug or alcohol. maybe hypnosis or accupuncture?:

To smoke or not to smoke!Someone that doesn't smoke cannot possibly understand what it is like to try to quit.People don't always get that smoking is addictive, and niccotine is a drug. The addiction is hard to break.....along with the habbit of smoking. Its like a double wammy! Some do great and just wake up and decide to be a nonsmoker and that works for them,on the other hand some just cant quit and these are the people that need additional help.(gum,patch,drugs...etc.)
I thought that educating myself on all the dangers....I'm sure you all know them.... would make it easier well for me it didnt.
I watched first hand what smoking can do to ones body.Three years ago I watched my dad 58 at the time struggle, fight and lose his battle with cancer. It was horrible but am I a non smoker now...NO... I should be but when I get the want to be a nonsmoker it affects me the opposite way and I just end up smoking more. For now I havent figured out for myself what it will take for me to quit so I just keep on researching different methods.Someday I know I will succeed,I just wish it would be sooner than later.
Best to luck to all those who decide to TRY and I hope it is successful! You just added years to your life!

    Default Lasers to quit smoking????

I just wanted to throw out a bit of information here. I currently receive laser hair removal treatments. It's the same laser that people are starting to claim can stop smoking. It's a fairly new thing as I have only seen a few commercials here in Ohio. However, I asked my Aesthetician (lady who does my laser treatments) about it and if it works.... she said it is not the laser that actually does anything. It is the smokers state of mind. If the smoker believes that she will stop smoking from laser treatment, then she will. Laser treatment for smoking is not anymore effective then accupuncture or hypnosis. All of those things will only work, if you believe they will work. If you tell your brain that a treatment is going to cure your addiction, then it will. You REALLY have to believe it though and fight any urges you might have to smoke. Just a little food for thought.

I totally agree with all RED31 said -- I LOVE to smoke -- I am 31 and have for 16 years -- I am not proud -- I wish so bad I could quit, but I guess I don't want it enough -- I cant imagine life without cigarettes -- What would I reach for ? What could take their place -- ? It is the worst habit ever, but I still love my Marlboro's -- I would smoke in my sleep if I could -- My boyfriend says I do -- HaHa -- He is a smoker as well -- And for all the people who just hate smoke and smokers -- Well, we're getting a little sick of people telling us how bad it is -- We know -- I would appreciate any advice one has to give, but please, no smoker bashing

Jenni Jones -- I am heavy too -- And have the same problem with the eating/smoking -- I was thinking about accupuncture -- Tried hypnosis -- It failed but might have worked with weekly treatments -- She was working on weight and eating at the same time -- Maybe that was tooo much --

I thought Female Prodigy had some good advise -- I am totally sure it is a state of mind

Thanks for listening -- Now write back

    Default To Quit Smoking

    Hi everyone,
I have just joined my name is Masky

I want to quit and have tried a few times already.
What is making it hard for me is that I am dealing with depression also.
I have a difficult friendship with my daughters father and until I sort this out I know it will be hard to quit. My doctor has told me to keep smoking as at the momment it is hard and could give me more stress and pressure. Also he said when the time is right and I will know its right then try again.
So maybe that is how it is for all of us smokers, yeah it is will power, thou also I think it helps with the sate of our own being with the balance in our lives and the things/people around us that make it easier for us. (hard to explain) As for all you non-smokers I'm not desagreeing with what you feel and say about us trying to quit, I do feel thou because you are non-smokers it is harder for you to understand. As with all of us it is hard to understand everyones situations. All we can keep doing is being here for everyone and isn't that why we have all come here, even for myself today. We all need support and encouragement.

    Thats it
    Masky.

    Default Quit Smoking

    Masky,

I am not a smoker, but I do agree that it is probably really difficult to quit! I am sure you do feel as though it is part of your lifestyle and you have become accustomed to it. On TV lately, we see many celebraties go through lifestyle changes and it looks really simple and easy. What we don not see, however, is the team of professionals that they have to help. I could lose weight if I had a personal trainer and my own chef....lol. The truth is, these changes need dedication and commitment. Quitting will probably only work if you have your heart set on it and a goal or pupose you are trying to reach. Don't rush yourself to quit, but if you do, you will be helping yourdelf become a healthier person.

I could have written your letter.... my dad died of lung cancer. I didn't even start smoking until I was 35, my whole life I hounded my sister to quit and then I went through a divorce 3 years ago and have been smoking ever since. The more I try to quit the more I smoke. I've been trying for over a year. The longest I've gone (without cheating at all) is 2 weeks. My sister has quit and now hounds me but I just can't seem to do it. I'm overweight and I battle depression. I hate the way smoking makes me feel(headaches etc) but I love to smoke. If there was a magic pill to stop smoking I would take it. I've tried everything.......
