Question about dosage?

My doctor has double my dosage for my AD. He has asked me to try 40mg of Prozac and it would be up to me and how I feel as to if I wanted to stay at that dosage or go back to the 20mg.
My question is, would taking 2 pills at 20mg be the same as taking 1 40mg?...or is there a different effect on you between the two?
