Default Setting a Standard of Civility

One of the things that brings and keeps many people at WH is great people and the Moderators which maintain the level of civility on the forum.

We tried an experiment and relaxed a bit on things to see how it would affect the posting and communication and frankly we haven't liked the the direction it's taken. We feel that we need to get back to our "roots" and once again bring the forum back to where it was through our Moderation. We ask for your support and cooperation in being mindful of your post and word choices. Be mindful of the Mods if they edit, delete or merge your posts or threads.

Please be aware that we will not allow: bypassing the profanity filter, spam, hijacking threads, creating multiple threads on essentially the same subject as an existing thread, incivility, or arguing. Our standard is civil discourse. This means we can have playful fun and we can engage in discussion of serious or controversial subjects, but only so long as it stays civil. If any one starts getting overly aggressive in their position they may be warned or removed from that discussion at the moderators discretion.

Please note: Any disagreement with a moderator's decision or action must be taken up with either our Admins: Little or Chandlers Wish or with the Head or Assistant Head Moderator's: Wild Child or Lana Bear. Any open forum posts of this nature will be removed and referred for private discussion. Our moderators have been chosen with great care and we respect their judgement in keeping this a great place to be.

If anyone has any apologizing to do, it would certainly be me. I've been rude and agressive, that's not usually me- it's not who I normally am and I don't like it when I am that way. Now that the stress level at home is in the tolerable zone, I think things will be much better for me and this fourm. I'm sorry if I crossed the line and it won't happen again.

I have noticed opinions being forced on others and general aggression. Glad its returning to normal.

Its not ever really fair to the OP... when they have a genuine question and log on to see their thread has like 20 responses... only to find that 18 of those are 2 people going back and forth about something that had nothing to with what they wanted to have answered. It would be frustrating, and basically pretty spammy to them...

I see what you mean about sometimes things go in a direction that wasn't expected... and if its still relevent to the topic, thats always interesting ... and if it isn't... but is something worth discussing further -- a seperate thread should really be made out of respect of the OP.

Definately, nothing wrong with a thread turning in a different direction as HD stated, after all people interperate the written language differently.

We as Mods/Admin often move a post to their own new thread if our members start focusing on that person instead of the OP. Again, as HD has pointed out.

As for hi-jacking some threads which become funny? They are usually always going to happen, in the Lounge..

Oh Guess where Sid almost always posts?

WC's intention of commencing this thread on behalf of WH is out of respect for the Forum and what it's purpose is, it's members and therefore what will and won't be tollerated.

Unfortuately, there is no give to those rules..full stop...

Spamming has always been a problem and I feel some threads are created for that purpose and also to cause a stir.

I have noticed a few posts designed to manipulate and cause a forceful reaction.

I guess as regular contributors we must try and be aware of this and work together to try and create a better atmosphere.

Yes, it's a constant battle for us all... And, I closed one today for that exact reason as have our Mods...

The atmosphere is important to this Forum we are unique and we want to stay that way...

Thanks for your thoughts everyone, and appreciation...

It's a great place we feel...

I agree that it's time to tighten the reigns again....so to speak.

Hats off to the moderators and the job they do. It's what sets this site apart from the others - IMO.
