Umm, excuse me, but who is the adult here? How old is this kiddo? Who does the shopping? Where does the soda come from? If you don't buy it he can't drink it, end of story.

Well, I have a very, very vivid memory of something my dad showed me when I was maybe 8. I lost a tooth, and he put it in a glass of soda, and let it sit for a day or two and the tooth started to break apart. I was so scared by the idea of me teeth dissolving that I never touched soda for the rest of my life!

I think it might be fizzy carbonated water that kids like, not just the sugar. Have you tried mixing healthier juices with some carbonated water? If he gets used to that, you might be able to "fade out" the carbonated water and add less and less.

Hmm.....my kids "get" to drink soda when I or my hubby says okay....Maybe once or twice a week my older ones(14/12) will get some....But as far as my younger ones, onlly once in awhile...If I have a soda out, my youngest will ask for a drink. I give him a drink and after that he is fine and doesn't want anymore..

I think you need to just put your foot down with your child and tell him that soda is not good for him and he may only have some once in awhile...

But also it has to do with we raised them that way from tiny..Mine will uaually ask for water before anything else...
