Default Christmas gifts..4 year olf.. help

My boyfriend has a 4 year old son. we both seem to have a hard time shopping for him and wonder if anyone has any ideas??

Surely he must watch things on TV and get excited, favourite characters? I know Batman outfits are out, haha. But, he must "idol" something....

If you don't know that, make a joke with him - "Santa sent me a letter saying he was going to get you a batman outfit for xmas, you don't like batman do you, Or was it Spiderman", that type of thing and maybe he might turn around and say Power Ranges, as an example, ......

I have a 4 yr old and he is in love with anything cars and trucks....I just watch him when we walk through the toy section, and see what he gets excited about....Then I go back and buy it!
