Very much so. It's bad enough to have to keep being reborn over and over without having all this stuff to deal with when you first arrive and for this rest of this life (ok, so I'm showing my spiritual views in this too)

BUT - if there is one good parent the cycle CAN be broken...

My dad is a complete arsehat but my mom rocks the world. I turned out fine... Oh actually, point invalid, nevermind, my sis is arsehat junior.

I still say one of the happiest days in my life is when she divorced the man. Story similar to WC, he owes $36k in back child support. It was more work for my mom to fight him on it than it was just to continue living her life and supporting us. Yeah - she had me when she was young (I was born the day after her 17th birthday and was at her HS graduation) and obviously with the wrong guy. She sacrificed a lot divorcing him and moving on with her life but you look at her now, 49 years old, and she is very successful, owns a successful business and has more respect from me than she will ever know! She's my best friend, my idol and I just hope she knows that.

People like my mom and WC are complete rock stars and go under appreciated. I think people take for granted a lot of struggles that go on behind closed doors at home. It takes a lot for a single mom to raise awesome kids. It's something I will never take for granted. There are so many dead beat dads around and the system just isn't set up to deal with them or enforce any type of law... Don't get me wrong, there are dead beat moms (my sister is one of them), but most often, the dads are quick to relinquish all parenting responsibilities in when divorce comes around...

I don't know. Gotta stop here, I've got many many stories and if I continue it will get entirely too emotional for me and that's something I don't do well.
