    Baylee has arrived!!!

    Born Dec.30th/ 2009 at 10:35pm. 6 pounds 7ounces 19 inches

Whew! What a first couple of days it has been. Of course, as expected very little sleep and a very curious baby. She has kept me on my toes with CONSTANT feedings and changing of diapers. We still have a long ways to go, but we're pulling through alright.

As for me, I did well....ended up getting an epidural. The labour ward was BUSY that night and there was only one doctor on call all night. By the time my contractions were 3-4 mins apart and 4 cm Dialated I felt like pushing already, but of course I did not. Not even 1 hour after the last check, I was already fully dialated and the urge to push was so overwhelming it was getting unbearable and the pain was unbelievable! They said not to push yet, but I was fighting contractions AND the urge to push every 1-2 mins. Deep breathing was NOT working at that point and the doctor was still VERY busy. I had to wait so I was offered the epidural...I thought about it, then agreed because I could not stand the pain anymore of fighting the urge to push!

So I got the epidural, and felt much better, the urge went away slightly (at least it was easier to breathe through contractions again). So half hour later the doctor was STILL busy, so the resident doctor and nurse had me start pushing to bring her down into the birth canal so she was good and ready to pop out once the doctor came. Well I pushed for not even 20 mins, she was starting to crown, the nurse got on the phone with doc, then surprise! she came with the next contraction and I didn't even push! And to my surprise, no tears YAY

So we're here at home now bonding as a new little family and it feels great! Brent and my mom got to watch her come out (or rather, slip out ) and Brent was bawling his eyes out. I was just so amazed and happy to see her that I couldn't cry even though I felt I wanted to. She nursed not even 10 mins of coming out, latched and suckled like a champ!
