My 6 year old son has begun lying to us lately about his behavior at school and we just can't figure out why. It's totally out of charachter for him and very shocking to us both but we don't know why all of a sudden it would just come on. He says it's to avoid getting in trouble at home but we have always told him that he'd get in LESS trouble if he just told us the truth. It's just getting so frustrating and breaks my heart I just wanted to vent a little bit I guess!

Hang in there it will get better. Just make sure you let him know you know when he's lying so he doesn't think he's gotten away with it. When our son was about the same age he went through the same thing and it did improve because we would always call him out when he told lies and remind him that the punishment for lying was much more severe than telling the truth.
